Duplex poem on the duplexity of life

Seeking permanence is seeking control. Say no. If you try to control what is outside yourself I failed. Miserably. The world is a prison of my own making. My jailers can make me deliriously happy. People can make you deliriously happy, people can wring you dry. Sit with it. Whatever changes isn’t real; become a lotus in a muddy pond. Let people act as they please, let them come and let them go.
There is no control to be found outside yourself.
You will fail.
Imprisoned in a labyrinth of my own making, I wailed.
Everyone I meet is my jailer- my parents, my friends, my lover.
They can also grab me by the throat and wring out every last tear.
But if you realise- what changes isn’t real. You needn’t get on this rollercoaster ride.
Your parents, your friends, your lovers are their own people. Let them act as they please.
Seeking permanence is seeking control. Say no.
